Volunteers serve in a variety of capacities at Regional Hospice. Some work directly with patients and their families, while others prefer assisting with administrative duties. Here are some of the ways hospice volunteers make a difference:

  • Offering companionship (reading a book, looking at photos, going on walks, journaling, playing games, etc.)
  • Providing bereavement support
  • Limited homemaking chores
  • Lending an ear to patients and their loved ones when they need to talk
  • Skilled services (carpentry, photography, computer, electrical, decoration, etc.)
  • Providing respite care for family members who need a break from the constant demands of caring for a loved one
  • Assisting chaplain in providing spiritual support
  • Running errands
  • Clerical work (phone calls, typing, filing, data entry, graphic arts, sending birthday and sympathy cards, etc.)
